"After the party...there's only Architecture"

Reconsidering Belgian Pavillion at 2008 Venice Biennale

"After the party" is the installation realized by Office Kersten Geers David Van Severen for the Belgian Pavillion at Venice Biennale 2008, Out there: Architecture Beyond Building. I think this work has someway preceded the main themes of the current Biennale which also deals with the concept of the versatility of emptiness. This project is about making architecture out of void. The construction of a meaningful scenario is still possible through a space which is just empty, yet is multipurpose. People inside are free to move around, fill (and feel!) this space in multiple ways.
Architecture is naked after the party...
As Geers explained: "We thought, after 10 years of relentless bombarding with nonsensical diagrams and showcases of half-interested journalistic surveys of countries, it was good to show architecture in the most simple, visible, and radical way."
